Overview
We were contacted by Crowan Parish Council to carry out numerous repairs on their playground equipment in Nancegollan.
The crawl pipe
We began by removing the crawl pipe and end wall panels, as both panels had substantially decayed.
We then dismantled the crawl pipe replacing the seriously corroded nuts and bolts with stainless steel replacements. The wall panels were manufactured by ourselves at SWPSI LTD and painted appropriately to extend the life of the woodwork.
The end walls and pipe were then replaced at the play area.
Replacing upright supports, along with a new platform and roof panel.
Thirteen of the upright posts had extensive rot and needed digging out of the ground, the wood replaced, reducing the length of the upright and installing metal feet to protect them against strimmers and rot.
On inspection of the upright supports it became very clear that they had extensive rot, as did the platform and roof.
After speaking to the council it was decided that we should also replace the upright supports, platform and roof, painting them after installation with the appropriate paint to extend its life.
Supplying and installing a hanging loop
We removed the current hanging loop which was very frayed, and we then installed a new hanging loop supplied by South West Play in Newlyn.
Additional work
We also replaced a corroded spring on the spring rocker, installed a new rocker and painted wood where required with the appropriate paint to extend its life.
